Adding a second parent or guardian to a student

A student can have more than one guardian linked to their record. This covers separated or co-parenting families, grandparents listed as emergency contacts, nanny shares, and similar situations where more than one adult needs access.

Where to find it

Open the student's detail page from your student list, then scroll to the Guardians section.

How to add a guardian

  1. Click + Add guardian in the Guardians section.
  2. Enter the guardian's email address. If they already have an Adminished account, they are linked immediately. If not, an invitation email is sent so they can create an account and claim access.
  3. Select a relationship label — Mother, Father, Step-parent, Grandparent, Carer, or Other. This is informational only and has no effect on permissions.

The primary guardian

One guardian per student is marked Primary. The primary guardian is used as the default billing contact — payment requests are issued to their account. To change which guardian is primary, click Make primary next to another guardian. You must designate a new primary before removing the current one.

What each guardian receives

Every message you send reaches all linked guardians, not just the primary. This includes class broadcast messages, scheduled broadcasts, and posts in the club feed. You do not need to maintain a separate WhatsApp group or send duplicate messages.

Billing

Payment requests are issued to the primary guardian's account. Either guardian can pay the invoice — both see it in their portal. Only one guardian needs to settle the payment.

Removing a guardian

Click Remove next to the guardian's name in the Guardians section. Their Adminished account is not deleted; they simply lose access to that student's records. If the guardian being removed is the primary, you must set a new primary first.
