Polls
Polls let you ask members a question and see their answers in one place.
Two kinds of poll
Text poll — any question with a list of text choices. Example: "What kit colour for next season?" with options Red, Blue, Black. Parents pick one (or more, if you allow it).
Time poll — a scheduling question where each option is a specific date and time slot. Example: "Which Saturday works for the friendly?" with options like Sat 14 Jun 10:00, Sat 21 Jun 10:00, Sat 28 Jun 10:00. Parents select every slot that works for them so you can find the best fit.
Creating a poll
- Go to Polls in the main nav.
- Click + Text poll or + Time poll.
- Write your question and an optional description (shown to members).
- Add between 2 and 30 options.
- Choose your settings: allow multiple choice, hide vote counts until close, make the poll anonymous, and/or set a deadline.
- Click Publish poll. Members can vote immediately.
Where members see polls
Parents see all open polls on their portal dashboard and at /parent/polls. They tap a poll to open it, pick their answer(s), and submit. They can change their answer any time before the deadline or until you close the poll manually.
Converting a time poll result into an event
Once responses are in, open the poll detail page and click Make winning slot an event. This pre-fills the New event form with the winning option's date and time. You still set capacity, price, description and any other details before clicking Save — nothing is published automatically.
Settings explained
- Multiple choice — members can pick more than one option. Useful for time polls where you want to know every slot that works, not just the top choice.
- Hide running vote counts — while the poll is open, members see only their own choice, not the running totals. (Members never see other members' votes by name either way.) Unless the poll is anonymous, you (the coach) still see who voted for what. Counts become visible to everyone once the poll closes.
- Anonymous — true per-voter anonymity. Nobody, including you, can see how an individual voted; only the totals are recorded. Members still can't vote twice and can change their answer before the poll closes — but the link between a member and their choice is never stored, so it can't be revealed anywhere in the app. The running tally stays hidden from members until the poll closes (the same as hiding vote counts). Anonymity applies to members polls; a public link is always anonymous regardless.
- Deadline — voting closes automatically at this date and time. Leave blank to close the poll manually whenever you're ready.
Privacy and what gets stored
For a normal poll, every vote is linked to the member's user account, so you (the coach) can see who voted for what. Hide vote counts only controls what members see while voting is open — it does not make a normal poll anonymous.
For an anonymous poll, the link between a member and their choice is never stored. We record separately that a member has voted (so they can't vote twice and can change their mind), and we record the choices themselves with no member attached — the two are never joined anywhere in the app. The result is that nobody, including you, can see how any individual voted; only the totals are kept.
Closing a poll
Open the poll detail page and click Close poll. This freezes votes and reveals counts to members (if they were hidden). Alternatively, set a deadline and the poll closes automatically at that time. Closed polls remain visible in the Polls list with a Closed badge.
Plan availability
Polls are available on every plan, including Free. Capacity per tier: Free can have up to 2 active polls at a time, Essential and Pro have no limit.
