Attendance statuses: present, late, excused and no-show
Your register knows the difference between absent and away. Every child on the register can be marked present, late, excused or no-show in one tap — so a sick child or a missed lesson never lands on a parent's bill by mistake, and your safeguarding record and your billing both stay honest.
Marking the register
Open a class session and tap a child's name to set their status. Tap again to cycle through the four states until you land on the right one. The register is built from who is actually enrolled, so you are never ticking off a child who has left.
What each status means
- Present — the child turned up. Counts as attended and is billed as normal.
- Late — the child turned up after the start. Late still counts as attended, so it is billed the same as present. A child who arrives ten minutes in is not penalised.
- Excused — a planned absence you knew about: illness, a holiday, a clash. Recorded without charging a fee.
- No-show — the child was booked but did not come. Recorded without charging a fee.
How statuses affect billing
Present and late both count as attended and are billed in the usual way. Excused and no-show are logged for your records but carry no charge, so an absence a parent told you about — or one they did not — never quietly adds to what they owe.
Good to know
Late is the only absence-looking status that still bills, because the child attended. Excused and no-show keep your register accurate without putting a charge on the parent.
Where statuses show up
Each status you set stays on that session's register, feeds your attendance reports, and drives the billing. Your reports and the communication audit trail both reflect exactly what you tapped, so the picture you see is the picture the parent sees.
