Recording attendance
The register — works on any device
The register is a full-screen, tap-to-check-in screen. Kiosk mode is not tablet-only — it runs on any device with a browser: your phone in your hand, a laptop, or a tablet. Mounting a tablet at the door is the recommended setup if you want a helper (or members themselves) to check in at the entrance, but it's optional — most coaches just use their phone.
Propping a device at the door? Sign it in with a register-helper account, not your coach account. Register helpers see a trimmed register — names and tick state only, locked to today — and can't reach member records, medical notes or payments anywhere in the app. Grant one in Settings → Team (register helpers). Assistant staff can also take the register (same trimmed door view, locked to today), but an assistant login can still open read-only member profiles — so for an unattended tablet, prefer a helper account.
- Go to Attendance in the top navigation.
- Select today's class.
- Tap a name as each member arrives — a green tick means present. Tap again to undo.
- For anything other than present, use the status dropdown on that person's row: Late, Excused or No-show.
Every tap saves instantly — there's no separate "save" step. Running a big class? Mark all present ticks everyone who's unmarked in one tap — set the Late/Excused/No-show exceptions first or after, they're never overwritten. You can add a walk-in straight from the register with Add & mark present.
What the statuses mean
- Present / Late — they came. Both count as attended (Late just notes they arrived after the start).
- Excused — they didn't come, but with a reason or notice (ill, away, told you in advance). An authorised absence.
- No-show — they didn't come and didn't let you know. An unexplained absence.
Excused and No-show are recorded the same way — neither counts as attended. The difference is purely for your records, so you can tell a reliable member who occasionally can't make it from someone quietly drifting away (a run of no-shows is your cue to check in with them).
View attendance history
Open any student's record and scroll to the Attendance section to see their full history across all classes. The Payments page uses attendance data to calculate outstanding balances for drop-in students.
Bulk actions
On the attendance page, use Mark all present to quickly tick everyone, then uncheck any absentees. Useful when most students attended.
